Head of UNMIK calls for ensuring a safe environment for journalists in Kosovo

Head of UNMIK, Zahir Tanin has called on the Kosovo authorities to immediately investigate attacks and threats against journalists and encourages them to renew their efforts to ensure the unrestricted exercise of the freedom of the media and of the right to information.

In a press release, after the beating of journalist Visar Duriqi, Tanin, recalls the importance of ensuring a safe and conducive environment that enables journalists from all communities to effectively investigate and report on issues affecting Kosovo, as befits a pluralistic and democratic society.
