“The Assembly of Kosovo is constituted, and we are waiting for the vote on the new government,” said the Assembly’s vice president from the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albulena Haxhiu, without specifying whether they have secured the necessary votes.
She made this comment in response to questions regarding the Serbian List’s complaint to the Constitutional Court and the possibility that the Court could suspend the deadline for forming the government by issuing a temporary measure.
The Serbian List submitted a complaint to the Constitutional Court on October 16, claiming that the election of Nenad Rashiq as vice president violated the Constitution, the Assembly’s rules of procedure, and a previous Constitutional Court decision. The new Kosovo Assembly was constituted on October 10, with Nenad Rashiq elected as vice president representing the Serbian community. His election came after all nine Serbian List deputies, despite being voted on three times, failed to secure the necessary votes.
This led Assembly Speaker Dimal Basha to be more reserved in commenting on the Serbian List’s complaint to the Constitutional Court. However, he emphasized that everyone has the right to file a complaint in this institution.
We are focused on another cause… Everyone has the right to file a complaint with the Constitutional Court,” Basha stressed.
He was also asked by journalists about the formation of a runoff coalition between LVV and LDK in the municipality of Vushtrri, but he said that political parties, not him, speak on that matter. “Political parties speak on that, I do not. You can contact Vushtrri and the prime minister,” Basha noted.
