The Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, has said that addressing war crimes and dealing with the past remain one of the main priorities of the Kurti Government.

In a press conference after the meeting of the Government of Kosovo, Haxhiu said that many actions have already been taken to address the crimes committed by Serbia during the war in Kosovo.

For this, she mentioned the police sector, which has now been raised to the level of the directorate, where previously there were 17 investigating police officers, and now there are 41 of them with the new structure.

Haxhiu also mentioned the increase in the budget for the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council in order to increase the number of prosecutors within the department for addressing war crimes.

In this conference, Haxhiu was asked why the Civil Code is not coming to the Government for approval and then the same will be passed to the Assembly of Kosovo.

In her answer, Haxhiu said that the Civil Code is one of the promises of the Kurti Government, because according to her, this is an important document in the interest of the citizens of Kosovo that advances human rights.

Minister Haxhiu emphasized that the Civil Code is not expected to pass for approval in the Assembly as long as they are not sure that it will have enough votes, as failure to approve it would not be good news for Kosovo.
