Kosovo’s acting President Albulena Haxhiu met with Admiral George Wikoff, Commander of NATO’s Allied Joint Force Command Naples, with whom she discussed the security situation in the country, cooperation with KFOR and coordination with NATO.

During the meeting, Haxhiu said in a Facebook post that Kosovo’s membership in NATO remains the country’s strategic goal.

“I thanked Admiral Wikoff for his engagement, as well as for KFOR’s service in maintaining security and freedom of movement for all citizens of Kosovo. I stressed that Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic orientation is irreversible and that NATO membership remains our strategic goal,” she wrote on the social network.

Wikoff also met with acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

“Following our first meeting in January, I had the honour of welcoming US Admiral George M. Wikoff once again to the Prime Minister’s Office. He is the Commander of NATO’s Allied Joint Force Command Naples in Italy and was accompanied by KFOR Commander Major General Özkan Ulutaş. We are grateful for NATO’s commitment to a peaceful and secure environment for all citizens and communities, as well as its continued contribution to lasting peace and long-term stability in our Republic and throughout the Western Balkans. With Admiral Wikoff, we discussed the security situation and cooperation between our institutions and NATO,” Kurti wrote on Facebook, KosovaPress reports.
