Germany’s Ambassador to Kosovo, Rainer Rudolph, has reiterated Berlin’s position that those responsible for the armed attack in Banjska in September 2023 must face justice.

Speaking about Milan Radoicic, who is considered responsible for organizing the attack, Rudolph said that Germany has condemned the incident in the strongest terms and continues to demand that those responsible be held accountable.

“We condemned the attack there in the strongest possible terms and we continue to do so. We have said that those responsible must be brought to justice. I know that Kosovo has issued an active international arrest warrant. This must happen,” the ambassador stated.

Asked whether Milan Radoicic would be extradited to Kosovo if he entered German territory, Ambassador Rainer Rudolph said that he would be detained.

“He would be detained, of course,” Rudolph said in the “Info Magazine” program on Klan Kosova, as reported by KosovaPress.

Although he claimed responsibility for the Banjska attack, in which police sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed and two others were injured, Radoicic remains free in Serbia, with his registered residence in Belgrade. Serbia has not filed any indictment against him.

However, Interpol has issued an international arrest warrant for him at Kosovo’s request, through the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK).

Kosovo’s Special Prosecution has filed an indictment over the Banjska attack, and among the 45 defendants is Milan Radoicic, who has been described as the “leader of the terrorist group”.

In this case, the Basic Court in Pristina this year sentenced three individuals: two to life imprisonment and one to 30 years in prison.

The other defendants remain at large, and Kosovo has issued arrest warrants seeking their detention through Interpol. Kosovo has repeatedly requested Serbia to extradite Radoicic so that he can face justice. At the time of the Banjska attack, Radoicic was deputy leader of the Serb List, the largest party of Kosovo Serbs, which is supported by Belgrade.

The United States and the European Union have called on Belgrade to prosecute those responsible for the Banjska attack.
