A protest by freight transporters has begun in North Macedonia, taking place at the border with Kosovo, but on Macedonian territory.

According to information from the National Border Management Center, reported to KosovaPress, truck movement is blocked on both sides of the border.

Truck drivers crossing this terminal to enter Macedonia told reporters off-camera that they have no information on whether they are allowed entry into Macedonian territory.

The blockade began at 12:00 and was announced in advance by the truckers.

Protesters have blocked all border points for trucks, but not for cars.

Through this protest, they are seeking a solution regarding their status in the Schengen area, due to the introduction of the European Union’s new Entry-Exit System (EES).

Macedonian transporters, along with those from three other countries, announced that the blockade will initially last seven days.
