On Tuesday, the deadline set by the Central Election Commission (CEC) for political parties to submit their lists of candidates for MPs has ended.

CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi states that four political parties did not submit their lists with the names of their candidates. These are: Yeniliçki Türk Haraket Partisi, Kosovski Savez, Partia Balliste - P.B and the Party for Citizens’ Social Welfare.

“During the 11-day period, from May 2 to May 12, the CEC has accepted the lists of candidates for MPs from 23 political entities, of which 18 are political parties, 3 coalitions, one civic initiative and one independent candidate. Four political parties, which had previously informed the CEC about their participation in the elections, did not submit the lists with their names, meaning the candidates for MPs,” Elezi said.

He also states that out of 23 entities, the total number of parliamentary candidates is 917, of which 603 are men and 314 women.

“The total number of candidates for MPs representing these 23 political entities is 917, of which 603 are men and 314 women. According to the plan approved by the Central Election Commission, the certification process for parliamentary candidates of these political entities is expected to be completed by May 15, but first it will be reviewed whether the candidates meet the legal criteria,” he concluded.
