Experts: A strong slowdown in economic growth is expected this year
Kosovo's economic growth is expected to slow down to 3.9 percent during 2022. These forecasts of the economic development rate for our country have been made by international financial institutions, which are being assessed as real by economic experts.
The forecast for economic decline to 3.9 percent from 10.5 as it was for 2021, has been affected by the increased risks with the significant increase of pressures from the Russian military invasion of Ukraine. As a result of this war, foreign direct investment is expected to shrink and remittances from the Kosovo diaspora are reduced.
Meanwhile, the Government of Kosovo, respectively the Ministry of Economy have not provided answers to the World Bank forecasts and what will be their projections for economic development during this year.
The Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo, Arian Zeka hopes that the forecasts from the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, have not been made based on the trend of remittances and the arrival of migrants in Kosovo this year.
