The Football Federation of Kosovo (FFK) will repeat the Working Assembly held on February 20 of this year after the Evaluation Commission within the Ministry of Sports found irregularities in that assembly, particularly emphasizing the participation of two clubs that were not licensed to take part.

As a result of these violations, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MKRS) had suspended the issuance of sponsorship confirmations under the Sponsorship Law for all football clubs, causing significant financial harm to each of them.

However, the situation has now changed. Speaking exclusively to KosovaPress, the Chairman of the Commission for Licensing Sports Federations, Fidan Shatri, stated that the FFK has agreed to repeat the Working Assembly, accepting the findings of violations identified by the MKRS.

According to MKRS official Fatmir Shatri, one of the most notable violations was the inclusion of unlicensed clubs in the decision-making process, which goes against the Law on Sports.

“The case of the Football Federation of Kosovo came after the commission's evaluation of the Working Assembly held in February. There were several remarks which were also made public, and one of the key issues was the participation of clubs that were not licensed in the decision-making process, specifically their participation in the FFK Assembly. In such a case, it is standard for all federations that unlicensed clubs cannot take part in decision-making or in the structures of the respective federation, in this case the FFK,” Shatri initially stated.

Following the commission’s evaluation, we held several meetings with the FFK, and as with all federations, we are ready to contribute by offering our proposals regarding the harmonization of all acts, since this is a new sports law and not yet fully familiar to everyone. In this case, the Football Federation has agreed to the findings presented by the commission, particularly the issue of unlicensed clubs participating in the assembly. The commission has noted that these clubs cannot be part of the assembly. The FFK has committed to holding the Working Assembly in June, in accordance with the Law on Sports, and to adopt the commission’s guidance and recommendations at the upcoming assembly,” said Shatri.

He added that if the FFK does not fulfill this commitment, the issuance of sponsorship confirmations for all FFK member clubs could once again be suspended.
