The German Ambassador to Kosovo, Rainer Rudolph, in an exclusive interview for KosovaPress, spoke about Kosovo’s path toward the EU, NATO, and the Council of Europe.

Rudolph said that Kosovo must first form its institutions, as this would make it easier to defend and promote Kosovo’s case in front of friends who may still have hesitations.

“Precisely for this reason we are here. But this brings me back to a point I have emphasized before. For us to be able to defend and promote Kosovo’s case to our friends who may still have hesitations, it is much easier when we hear a single voice from Kosovo saying: ‘This is what we want and this is what we will do.’ The problem is that since February 2025 we have been in a continuous cycle of difficulties in constituting the Assembly, forming the government, and electing the president. We have had three electoral processes within about 18 months. Whatever else we may do, this is the first thing that needs to be resolved here in Kosovo,” Rudolph told KosovaPress.

Asked whether everything on Kosovo’s European path is conditioned by the dialogue with Serbia, Rudolph said that progress in the dialogue with Serbia must happen in one way or another in order for there to be progress toward the EU.
