The emissary of the United States of America for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, has welcomed the decision of the Government of Kosovo to give lands to the Monastery of Deçan, according to the decision of the Constitutional Court. Escobar, after a two-hour meeting with the president, Vjosa Osmani, asked Kosovo and Serbia to implement the Brussels Basic Agreement and the Ohrid annex, while underlining that not only Kosovo is being asked to make difficult decisions within this agreement, but this something is also required from Serbia. He also emphasized to the media the need to strengthen bilateral relations between the USA and Kosovo, reports KosovaPress.

Escobar said that the decision on the lands of the Monastery of Deçan is important and a necessary step, although difficult for the institutions of Kosovo.

Escobar said that during his stay in Kosovo, he will make many visits to discuss the challenges that Kosovo is facing, including the CBK regulation, which prohibits the use of the dinar in Kosovo.

Among other things, he also mentioned the need to move forward in the dialogue, with the implementation of the Brussels agreement, which also includes the establishment of the Association.

On the other hand, he requested from Serbia that all persons responsible for the terrorist attack of September 24 last year in Banjska be brought to justice.

Speaking about the US-Kosovo relations, the American emissary emphasized that the legacy of bilateral relations between the two countries is based on a lasting commitment to the security, territorial integrity and independence of Kosovo.
