The Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, said that electricity prices in Kosovo are the lowest in the region. Speaking at the extraordinary session of the Assembly of Kosovo, where electricity is being discussed, she said that in 2025 electricity in Kosovo cost 8.17 cents per kilowatt, while in Albania it was 11.6 cents, or 41% more expensive, according to her.
According to Rizvanolli, in North Macedonia the price was 11.4 cents, 40% higher than in Kosovo, while in Serbia it was 11 cents, or 25% more expensive than in Kosovo.
Rizvanolli also said that the opposition is inventing claims, including figures related to imports.
Regarding import numbers, she said they have increased because “investments are being made that were not made for 40–60 years.”She said that the Energy Regulatory Office has proposed cost profiling over two years, given that this year is more difficult because unit B is out of operation for investments that increase production and reduce pollution. Next year, she added, the situation is expected to improve, as after investments in this unit and others in the A system, production will be higher.
Rizvanolli added that according to the ERO report, profiling was done because an increase was expected this year and a possible decrease next year.
