Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama today commemorated the 70th anniversary of the birth of the legendary commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army, Adem Jashari, describing him as an unparalleled symbol of sacrifice and national identity.

In a public statement, Rama emphasized that Jashari’s birthday, which coincides with Flag Day, is not merely a historical coincidence but a moment directly connected to the Albanian people’s path to freedom.

“Today we also mark the 70th anniversary of the birth of Adem Jashari, the hero who was born on Flag Day and became a flag of sacrifice, freedom, and national pride,” Rama wrote, accompanying the message with national symbols and the double-headed eagle.

Adem Jashari, who fell together with his family in March 1998, remains the central figure of Kosovo’s armed resistance and a key point of reference for the KLA in its mission of unity and nationwide aspirations.

Rama’s message comes on November 28, the day Albanians celebrate Albania’s Independence and Flag Day, further highlighting the strong spiritual bond between the two Albanian states and the legacy of the legendary commander of Prekaz.
