The Central Market Surveillance Inspectorate, operating under the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade, and Innovation, has announced that it is carrying out intensive monitoring of the petroleum derivatives market to ensure compliance with the decision on the temporary regulation of prices.
According to the announcement, the inspections are being conducted as part of the ongoing market monitoring and relate to the implementation of the Decision on temporary price regulation and the adoption of other protective measures, signed by Minister Mimoza Kusari Lila on March 4, 2026. This decision aims to protect consumers, increase transparency, safeguard fair competition, and prevent market disruptions, KosovaPress reports.
According to official data from the Kosovo Customs records, the average import price for petroleum derivatives on Monday (March 9, 2026) was €1.44 per liter for diesel and €1.17 per liter for gasoline.
Meanwhile, based on monitoring of the domestic market from Saturday until now, the prices displayed to consumers at retail points range from €1.44 to €1.55 per liter for diesel, and from €1.26 to €1.31 per liter for gasoline.The trade margin refers to the difference between the selling price and the supply price.
The Central Market Surveillance Inspectorate has stated that it will continue intensive monitoring and inspections of the petroleum derivatives market in cooperation with Kosovo Customs, the Kosovo Tax Administration, and the Kosovo Competition Authority. In cases where irregularities are identified, including non-compliance with the margin decision or practices that may harm competition and consumers, strict measures will be taken in accordance with the applicable legislation.
