Gashi, at the international conference "Freedom of Speech Borders", in honor of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of KosovaPress News Agency, said that the latter in 1999, when the war was happening in Kosovo, appeared as a champion of the truth and symbol of resistance.
"In January 1999, while the war was going on in Kosovo, KosovaPress emerged as a champion of the truth and a symbol of the resistance of the population in Kosovo. During the past quarter of a century, Kosovo has gone through many state-building challenges, but KosovaPress has remained a stable partner for the state and our developing society. I can imagine how the internal efforts in building independent media, while the state is also being built, show the reality of what we have experienced as a state. This is evidence that KosovaPress should be praised for its work and professionalism. Since its beginnings, KosovaPress has been a serious agency in Kosovo and the region", she said.
"Through the work that KosovaPress has done, not only inside Kosovo but also outside it, being part of the European Alliance of News Agencies and that of the Western Balkans, KosovaPress has raised the level of journalism in Kosovo", she said.
Meanwhile, she also mentioned the challenges that Kosovo is facing with what she called misinformation campaigns.
KosovaPress was the host of the international conference "Freedom of Speech Borders", where more than 20 world news agencies from Europe and the world participated.
The first panel focused on the contemporary challenges facing news agencies and media in this period of great global change.
In the second panel, the speakers were the president of the Prishtina MALL Board, Fatmir Zymberi, the leader of the UBT College Edmond Hajrizi, university professor Besa Luzha, Kushtrim Krasniqi from the Kosovo Olympic Committee, and Tualant Hodaj from the Kosovo Football Federation, who will present views about the possibility of creating synergies to support innovative initiatives that advance social prosperity. /KosovaPress
