The Kosovo Police, border officers at Pristina International Airport, as a result of the implementation of operational plans and additional commitments in identifying and preventing smuggling at the airport, have carried out several concrete actions on well-founded suspicions of smuggling of tobacco/cigarettes, which have attempted to be destined mainly to the United Kingdom through Kosovo.

It is further reported that in the latest case, which occurred on January 11, 2025, the smuggling of 41 packs/boxes of cigarettes was prevented, which the male suspect, a Bulgarian citizen, attempted to smuggle through Kosovo to London, as his destination was this city.

In these four cases, the Kosovo Police, in cooperation with Kosovo Customs, seized over 340 packs/boxes of cigarettes of various types, mainly expensive types.

The Kosovo Police, together with the competent institutions, informs the public and citizens that it has increased its engagement and presence in checking passengers suspected of such smuggling.
