Chief State Prosecutor of Kosovo Zejnullah Gashi has presented the priorities of his mandate, promising reforms aimed at strengthening the prosecution system and increasing citizens’ trust in justice.

At Monday’s meeting of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, Gashi said that the work of prosecutors should be measured by concrete results, not public statements. According to him, professionalism, integrity, and performance will be the foundation for building a more efficient and trustworthy system. He called for greater engagement in investigating and prosecuting corruption cases, especially high-level corruption, as well as fighting organized crime and other forms of criminal activity.

“A prosecutor should speak only through their work. Credibility in our institution is not built through statements or rhetoric, but through professionalism, integrity, and concrete results. Our way of communication will be professional work and performance. It is precisely on this basis that we will be judged, and only through concrete results will we strengthen the authority of the institution and citizens’ trust in us. This means that during our work we must develop more professional and efficient investigations and ensure successful criminal prosecution of corruption, with particular emphasis on high-level corruption, organized crime, and every other form of criminality,” he said.

A few days after being decreed as Chief State Prosecutor, Gashi pledged to implement the program and objectives he presented during his candidacy for the position, while promising prosecutors support in carrying out their duties with professionalism, impartiality, and courage. He said his office would be open to cooperation and institutional coordination in order to overcome the challenges faced by prosecutors.

Speaking about the independence of the prosecution system, Gashi emphasized that every decision must be based on the Constitution, the law, and legally obtained evidence. He stressed that independence must not serve as a shield for irresponsibility, while accountability, according to him, is a condition for maintaining high professional standards.

Gashi added that the fight against abuse of office will be uncompromising and that no one will be above the law.
