The Chamber of Doing Business in Kosovo (CDBK) has raised its concern over announcements that Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure, Liburn Aliu, will decide on a moratorium on new quarries and those in the process, for environmental approval in the period June 2021 - June 2023.

The proposed decision not to extend the licenses that expire in June this year, and not to equip the new quarries with the relevant permits to continue operating in this sector, is extremely worrying for the mining sector, taking into account the material damage after numerous investments in equipment and machinery, which will be caused to the latter and the loss of hundreds of jobs, reads the statement.
