Today, four training sessions were held for six young people from the Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian communities, within the framework of the project “Challenging Negative Stereotypes of the Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian Communities in Kosovo through the Media Initiative.” This project is implemented with support from the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) and is executed by the Center for Innovation and Development (CFID), in partnership with the news agency KosovaPress.

The project aims to empower youth from these communities by equipping them with skills and opportunities to challenge negative stereotypes and contribute to the creation of a positive and unbiased media narrative. The participants are developing professional skills in journalism, media production, and videography through specialized training sessions.

Today, the training covered the module on video graphics and editing, providing opportunities to familiarize with the processes of creating visual and video content. This module helps participants develop new skills and create content that reflects the reality of their community in a positive light.

These young people will have the opportunity to become professionals in the media and journalism field, contributing to the advancement of the position of the Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian communities. They will be able to act as defenders against stereotypes and prejudices, promoting a more accurate and fair image of these groups in the media.

Upon completion of the training, the youth will have the opportunity to undertake professional internships in some of Kosovo’s media outlets, contributing to the creation of content that reflects the reality of their community in a positive light.

This project is an important step towards building a fairer and more inclusive society for all citizens of Kosovo.
