“Bring Back My Light”: Assembly holds a solemn session for survivors of sexual violence

Kosovo today marks the Memorial Day for Survivors of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence during the war in Kosovo. Deputies of the Assembly of Kosovo will gather today in a solemn session to mark the Memorial Day for Survivors of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence, “Bring Back My Light.”

The session starts at 05:00 PM.

Meanwhile, at 08:30 AM, the Acting President and at the same time Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, will pay tribute at the “Heroinat” Memorial, in honor of April 14, the Day of Survivors of Sexual Violence during the last war in Kosovo.

At 09:30 AM, the Kosovo Rehabilitation Centre for Torture Victims will hold the regional conference “Advancing access to justice for survivors of conflict-related sexual violence: Criminal accountability and the right to compensation,” where Acting President Albulena Haxhiu and Minister of Justice Donika Gërvalla are expected to participate.

Otherwise, April 14 marks the Memorial Day of Survivors of Sexual Violence during the war in Kosovo.

Through this day, the suffering and trauma of those who experienced sexual violence are remembered.

This day aims to acknowledge the injustice endured and the trauma resulting from such crimes, while also raising awareness about delayed justice and the fight against stigma.
