After around 48 hours of searching, the lifeless body of the captain of the tourist boat, Arben Anamali, has been found.

The body was discovered on the third day of the search operation, which began around 5:00 AM this morning.

The captain, hailed as a hero, entered the lake to save two tourists and drowned in the process.

The Israeli tourists had gone swimming, but due to strong lake currents, they encountered difficulties and were at risk of drowning, according to Tch.

As soon as he noticed them, Anamali jumped into the water to help. He managed to bring the two Israelis close to the boat and then disappeared beneath the surface, Tch reports.

It is suspected that, due to exhaustion, the 51-year-old suffered health complications in the water and drowned.

Anamali was the father of two young children and had been appointed as captain of the municipality-owned tourist boats in Shkodër last year.

Tragically, this heroic act turned into a tragedy for him, his family, and everyone who knew him.
