Attack on Iber Lepenc, Hovenier: We support Kosovo authorities, too early to identify those responsible
US Ambassador Jeff Hovenier has called the attack on Iber Lepenc “horrendous” and said they support Kosovo authorities in finding those responsible, but added that “it is too early to say who is behind the attack.”
He reiterated that they strongly condemn the attack that occurred on the Iber Lepenc canal on Friday night.
Hovenier said that these violent actions are inexcusable, while he commended the Kosovo authorities for the emergency response.
Ambassador Hovenier added that the United States are not in a position to say who is behind the attack.
On behalf of the EU, Ambassador Aivo Orav also supported the statements of the EU High Representative Josep Borrell regarding the situation.
A powerful explosion occurred on Friday evening in the village of Varage in Zubin Potok, damaging the Iber Lepenc water canal. Eight people suspected of involvement have been arrested in relation to the terrorist attack.
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that the attack was terrorist and organized by criminal gangs with the support of official Belgrade.
