Fitore Gashi, the daughter of Kosovo boxing legend Nazif Gashi, met with the President of the Olympic Committee of Kosovo, Ismet Krasniqi. During the meeting, discussions were held about the life and achievements of the boxer, as well as the support provided to the family following his passing.

After the meeting, Gashi told KosovaPress that the institutional recognition and respect shown for her father’s life and contributions to boxing and Kosovo sports in general represent a special honor.

“I want to thank the Olympic Committee of Kosovo, especially Ismet Krasniqi, as well as all his collaborators, for organizing the commemorative gathering in honor of our father, Nazif Gashi, a well-known boxer. The institutional recognition and respect shown for his life and contributions to boxing and Kosovo sports in general represent a special honor for our family, and a testament to the legacy he left behind. We are sincerely grateful for the tribute and your dedication during these difficult moments for us,” Gashi emphasized.

She added that she feels proud of her father’s contributions to sports and that it is still hard for her to believe that he is no longer alive.

“The pride is immense, indescribable. It is so great that I still continue to believe that my father is with us,” she added.

Nazif Gashi, one of the greatest names in the history of Kosovo sports, passed away on December 10, 2025. He was part of the “golden generation” of Prishtina boxing and dominated the sports scene in the former Yugoslavia during the 1970s and ’80s, making Kosovo proud with his performances.
