The Basic Court in Pristina today issued a guilty verdict sentencing Blagoje Spasojevic and Vladimir Tolic to life imprisonment after they were found guilty of the terrorist attack in Banjska, Zvecan, which took place on September 24, 2023. Meanwhile, Dusan Maksimovic was sentenced to 30 years in prison. As a result of the attack, police sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed, while three others were injured.
The KosovaPress team followed the trial of the accused in the Banjska case together with the family of the fallen hero Afrim Bunjaku in Samadregjë, Vushtrri.
Before the verdict was announced at the Basic Court, the cousin, Arton Bunjaku, also spoke to KosovaPress.
He said the family expects life imprisonment for the accused, stressing that justice should also include others who have not yet faced the law.Speaking about suspects still at large, including Milan Radoicic, he described the situation as injustice.
“The fact that he is still at large and free and protected by Belgrade is injustice. We call on the international community and the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to ensure he is brought to justice as soon as possible and receives the maximum sentence,” he said.
“It was a painful day, and we did not expect that a part of Kosovo would be attacked in peacetime. Not only Afrim, but all those present and still present are living heroes of this land,” he said. “Around 4 a.m. I was informed that Afrim had been seriously injured. After about 30 minutes, I learned that he had died during the battle with criminals in Mitrovica. We strongly believe they will receive the maximum deserved sentence. If that does not happen, it would be very serious not only for the family but for the whole people of Kosovo and for justice,” he said.
As a result of the attack, 50-year-old officer Afrim Bunjaku from Vushtrri was killed, while police officer Alban Rashiti was injured and Clirim Shaqiri, Mirsad Kryeziu, and Sedat Dushi were also injured.
Nearly a year after the attack, on September 11, the Special Prosecution filed an indictment in which Milan Radoicic is listed as the main leader of the group.
