Today marks the thirty-sixth attempt to constitute the Assembly

More than two months have passed since the saga of electing the new speaker of the ninth legislature began, and it seems this situation will continue indefinitely.

The thirty-five previous sessions have ended in failure due to a lack of votes from the Vetëvendosje Movement, Guxo, and Alternativa for Albulena Haxhiu as the new Speaker of the Assembly, reports KosovaPress.

The newly elected deputies will convene today for the thirty-sixth time in the continuation of the session to constitute the new Assembly, starting at eleven o’clock.

The Constitutional Court has yet to respond regarding the secret voting procedure, which was submitted for interpretation by the parliamentary group of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo.

Vetëvendosje Movement, Guxo, and Alternativa are requesting the formation of a commission to oversee the secret voting process for electing Haxhiu as the new Speaker of the Assembly, in an effort to break the political deadlock.

The Democratic Party of Kosovo, the Democratic League of Kosovo, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, and NISMA have consistently repeated that they will not vote for Albulena Haxhiu and have expressed opposition to a secret ballot.
