The RTK Workers’ Union (SPERTK) announces the suspension of the strike following the unblocking of the situation regarding RTK’s budget and the creation of opportunities to address the remaining issues that directly affect the functioning of the public broadcaster.
After protests and a four-day strike carried out by RTK employees, the Government of Kosovo has allocated funds for their salaries, KosovaPress reports.
The union states that during this entire period, RTK workers did not receive adequate communication from those responsible for ensuring the institution’s stability and salary payments — a situation they describe as regrettable and one that worsened the climate by creating unnecessary insecurity and concern.
Furthermore, the union thanks the Government and the acting Prime Minister for taking steps that led to unblocking the budget situation, calling it an essential action for the institution’s stability and for preserving RTK’s mission as a public broadcaster.
SPERTK reminds that if similar situations arise again in January 2026, the strike may immediately resume and in any necessary form.
