Radio Television of Kosovo workers suspend protest after government allocates over €2.2 million

The Trade Union Federation of Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK) has announced that the protest scheduled for Monday at 11:30 has been suspended, after the caretaker government approved the allocation of €2.24 million for the public broadcaster.

According to the announcement, the decision approved during an electronic meeting on Friday creates the possibility of overcoming the financial situation that left RTK employees without salaries for 13 days.

The unions emphasized that, despite the lack of salaries, employees continued working without interruption, ensuring the provision of public broadcasting services for citizens.

However, they noted that suspending the protest does not mean the issue has been closed. If salaries are not paid, the planned protest will be organized at a later stage.

The RTK Trade Union Federation called on the responsible institutions to establish mechanisms that guarantee sustainable funding for RTK and regular salary payments, stressing that employees should not become victims of political blockades, institutional negligence, or management failures.

At the end of the statement, the union expressed gratitude to employees for the unity and solidarity shown during the crisis, saying that this collective effort contributed to overcoming the situation.
