RTK strike continues, union warns against pressure on workers

The strike of RTK workers continues into the fourth day as planned. According to the announcement from the leadership of the Independent Union of RTK (SPERTK), all employees of Radio Television of Kosovo are called to fully respect the two-hour work stoppage, from 11:00 to 13:00, in all sectors of the public media institution.

SPERTK emphasized that during this period no work tasks should be performed and stated that any form of pressure, interference, or attempt to boycott the strike constitutes a legal violation. According to the union, the Trade Union Law and the Law on Strikes strictly prohibit any form of pressure on workers, and any such case will be immediately reported to the authorities.

At the same time, the union has requested that workers report any instance of pressure via the official SPERTK email.

“If anyone experiences pressure, interference, or attempts to boycott the strike, please write to us immediately at the official email. The Trade Union Law and the Law on Strikes strictly prohibit any form of pressure on workers. Every case will be reported to the authorities,” the announcement states.

Despite the strike, it has been noted that if RTK is mentioned during today’s Kosovo Government meeting, which starts at 12:00, the relevant portion for the public should still be broadcast.

SPERTK stressed that the strike will continue until the necessary budget for RTK is allocated.

RTK workers, during the protest held on November 13 in front of the public television entrance, called for a solution regarding salaries; otherwise, they warned of taking further measures. On November 17, they held a one-hour strike.
