Serb sentenced to two years in prison and €15,000 fine for attacking KFOR soldiers and police in the north

Basic Court of Pristina has sentenced Serbian citizen Slobodan Radenkovic to two years in prison and a €15,000 fine for attacking KFOR soldiers in May 2023 near the Zvecan municipal building during tensions following the election of Albanian mayors.

Judge Medie Bytyqi said that after the plea agreement between both parties was reached and approved, Radenkovic was found guilty of both criminal offenses charged in the indictment.

“Sllobodan Radenkovic is guilty of the criminal offense, in co-perpetration, attacking an official person, as well as the criminal offense, in co-perpetration, participating in a crowd committing a criminal offense and hooliganism… For count one of this judgment, a prison sentence of two years is imposed, with time spent in detention calculated from 14.01.2026 onwards. For count two, a prison sentence of six months is imposed, which, in accordance with Article 44 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo, with the consent of the defendant, is replaced with a fine in the amount of €15,000. And pursuant to Article 76, paragraph 2, subparagraph 2.2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo, an aggregate sentence of two years in prison is imposed, including time spent in detention from 14.01.2026 onwards, and a fine in the amount of €15,000,” she said.

In today’s initial hearing held at 9:30 a.m., the plea agreement reached between the accused Radenkovic and the Kosovo Special Prosecution was reviewed.

According to the indictment, on 29.05.2023 from 06:00 in the morning until the evening hours, in the perimeter of the Zvecan municipal building, the accused, now found guilty, in coordination with others, is charged with actively participating in a group that used violence against members of the KFOR peacekeeping mission and the Kosovo Police.
