Osmani: I hope the full cycle of functional institutions will be completed as soon as possible

The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, stated that she is in communication with political parties and hopes that the formation of new institutions will be completed as soon as possible.

Following the publication of the Constitutional Court’s decision, which determined that the Assembly of Kosovo has not yet been constituted, the President was cautious in her comments when asked by KosovaPress, saying that she is waiting for the full verdict to be published.

On September 30, the Constitutional Court announced that the constitutive session of the Kosovo Assembly, which began on April 15, has not concluded because the deputy speaker from the Serb community has not been elected.

President Osmani had earlier submitted comments to the Court, requesting that the Assembly be considered constituted, arguing that the Serb List should not have a “veto” over the formation of the Assembly.

The Court ordered the members of the Assembly to constitute the ninth legislature within 12 days of the publication of the full ruling, but did not specify the legal consequences if the Assembly bodies are not completed.

The Constitutional Court’s decision follows a complaint from the Serb List, the largest Serbian party in Kosovo, regarding the separate voting process for deputy speaker candidates from non-majority communities.

“It’s still just a notice. Once the full judgment is published, we’ll call you again… We are continuously in communication with political parties and will continue to be. I hope that the full cycle of functional institutions will be completed as soon as possible,” she said.

President Osmani made these remarks after being honored by the University of Pristina with the award ‘Honorary Alumni of UP’.
