During her visit to the Federal Palace of Switzerland, Vjosa Osmani expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome from the Swiss delegation and had a message for the Albanian diaspora.
She stated that Switzerland had supported Kosovo during its most difficult days, thus demonstrating the value of solidarity.
“It is this with this spirit that the people of Switzerland and this wonderful country stand with Kosovo in the most difficult times, as well as in the most hopeful times. Just as this country offered refuge to minds like Albert Einstein and Thomas Mann, as well as a young girl named Madeline Albright, who later became the Secretary of State of the USA, hundreds of thousands of Kosovars found shelter here during the darkest times in our history. Today, hundreds of thousands of citizens of Kosovar origin live in this country. From the changes, we have built a common point and shared dreams. Together we have formed a special partnership, rich in friendship and human connections. The children of those who once came as refugees are now doctors, engineers, artists, and entrepreneurs. Every day, they help the prosperity of their new home,” said Osmani.
She also mentioned the football star Xherdan Shaqiri, who, according to her, played a key role in Basel and Switzerland. Meanwhile, she gave a message for Albanians in Switzerland.
“Regardless of your profession, your background, or the size of your platform, be a force for good, be a living example of what positive integration looks like. Living in this country is not just a privilege; it is a responsibility,” said Osmani.
