Mufti Tërnava extends his wishes to the faithful on the occasion of Eid al-Adha

On the occasion of the Eid al-Adha holiday, the Grand Mufti of Kosovo, Naim Tërnava, has extended his wishes to Muslim believers, calling for this holiday to be a time of greater kindness, unity around the values of faith, dignity, justice, and solidarity.

In his message of congratulations, Mufti Tërnava said that the people of Kosovo have built the foundations of their existence on the values of sacrifice.

“On this grand night of Eid al-Adha, when hearts tremble from the greatness of sacrifice and when the soul seeks closeness to God, I address you with deep humility and sincere love on behalf of the Islamic Community of the Republic of Kosovo, on behalf of its institutions and in my own name as the Grand Mufti of the Republic, to convey to you the warmest greetings for this magnificent holiday — Eid al-Adha — praying to Almighty God that this blessed day finds you with peaceful hearts, with health and well-being, united families, and with deepened faith in the highest spiritual values,” declared Tërnava.

The Grand Mufti of Kosovo stated that Eid al-Adha carries deep social and patriotic messages and contributes to strengthening the values that build society and the nation.

He said this holiday reinforces the sense of community and brotherhood, which, according to Tërnava, are the foundation of a stable state.

“This holiday strengthens the sense of community and brotherhood among us, which is the basis for a healthy society and a stable state. On this night of this blessed holiday, we cannot help but stop and reflect on the sacrifices of our people, which resemble the sacrifice of Ibrahim (Abraham), peace be upon him. We have known pain, have gone through difficult trials, have given our dearest for a better future and for a life with dignity and freedom. Through sacrifice, patience, and unwavering faith, our people have built the foundations of their existence on the values of sacrifice and justice… On the eve of every holiday, we bring to mind our past, we stand with hearts full of gratitude and pride before our sacrifices, we remember our days of offering and sacrifice, our times of suffering, our places of sacrifice, our nights of prayer in darkness, always with hope in the One God for the freedom and independence of our country,” he said.

The Grand Mufti of the Islamic Community of Kosovo, Naim Tërnava, said that Eid al-Adha is an eternal remembrance for all those who fell for freedom.

“This night is also an eternal remembrance of our martyrs, of the mothers who still haven’t found the remains of their sons and daughters, of the children who grew up without the embrace of a parent, but with the pride that they were part of a sacred sacrifice for freedom. Today, as we perform the ritual of sacrifice (qurbani), we know that every drop of blood that flows from the sacrificial animal is a vow to be more just, more merciful, and more devoted to God and to one another,” said Mufti Tërnava.

The Grand Mufti also mentioned that today in Mecca, on the plain of Arafat, are the pilgrims from Kosovo who are experiencing the journey of a lifetime through their prayers to God.

“Today, as millions of believers are in the holy land of Mecca spending this day on the plain of Arafat, among them are also the pilgrims from Kosovo who are experiencing the pilgrimage — the journey of life — with their prayers directed to the Creator for the forgiveness of sins, for health and well-being for their families, for our people, and for the safety of our homeland,” he said.

The Eid al-Adha prayer will be held tomorrow, on June 6, 2025, at 05:35 AM.
