Main Kosovo opposition leader Bedri Hamza says he expects a swift formation of institutions after elections

Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) leader Bedri Hamza said that the elections were not equal and that public money was used, speaking at a press conference one day after the elections, while also congratulating all parties for their results.

Hamza said they had expected better results.

“I congratulate all political parties that took part in the race for their results. It has been a process within a series of electoral processes. For the Democratic Party of Kosovo, the result is what it is. Of course, we expected more, we could have done more. If we refer to the seats in the Assembly, I expect the number of MPs to be slightly higher than in the previous mandate. However, we are waiting for the completion of the electoral process, the counting of all votes, and to see where we stand as a political party…

The elections were free, but they were not fair and they were unequal. They were unequal because public money was used, which certainly also influenced the result,” Hamza said.

The PDK leader stressed that he expects the institutions to be formed quickly.

Hamza said that in four municipalities in the country they recorded the biggest loss of votes.

He also announced that PDK will go through two important processes: first, internal elections this year, where the race will be open at all levels, including the party leader; and second, they expect a favorable decision for the former KLA leaders being tried in The Hague, because, according to him, if a different decision is made, there is no freedom.

In these early elections, according to preliminary results from the Central Election Commission, PDK won 21.13% or 147,325 votes.
