Hibrid.info warns: Fake AI videos are circulating ahead of the December 28 elections

Hibrid.info has informed the public to be cautious of the content circulating on social media, as recently several videos generated with artificial intelligence related to the December 28 elections have appeared.

On the social network TikTok, videos have been published in which it is claimed that various journalists have interviewed members of the diaspora at airports about their voting preferences. According to Hibrid.info, these materials are created through AI technology and are being used to create a false political narrative.

In an information meeting with journalists, the senior researcher at Hibrid, Festim Rizanaj, emphasized that the main problem with these videos is the large impact they are achieving among the audience.

He clarified that these videos are being listened to more than watched, while with a little attention, the signs of manipulation can be noticed.

“We have identified several videos that have been generated with artificial intelligence, with political narratives, mainly related to the approach of the December 28 elections. We have noticed that this is not an isolated phenomenon, that there is such use and that it has an impact based on the distributions used…2:09. Their problem is that they have gotten many links, shares, comments, with thousands of views, which we consider as a form of their impact. When watched by the audience, we have noticed that they are listened to more than watched, because people are interested in what is being said. If you concentrate, you can notice some distortions, facial expressions, a blurred image, a robotic voice, details during certain generations, distorted and meaningless texts,” said Rizanaj.

Another researcher, Hyrije Mehmeti, said that the impact of these videos is large, as they are being taken as true by a considerable part of the public.

“The impact is much greater and they are being taken as accepted and true…6:10 If we see that words are being used which do not exist in our vocabulary or that have never been in use, attention should automatically be raised as to whether it is generated by AI or not. The heavy use of social platforms, especially Facebook and TikTok, makes the audience very large, especially among youth and the diaspora, these are the most affected audiences. All of these problems have led Hibrid to take an initiative, to advise journalists and the media on the use of artificial intelligence,” said Mehmeti.

According to the researchers of Hibrid.info, this new form of using artificial intelligence is being exploited to influence voters ahead of the December 28 elections.
