Municipal vote counting in Kosovo starts Monday across counting centers

The Central Election Commission of Kosovo has announced that the counting of votes in Municipal Counting Centers will begin on June 8. In some municipalities it will start at 16:00 in the afternoon, while in smaller municipalities it will begin at 09:00 in the morning.

The Chair of the CEC, Kreshnik Radoniqi, said that the final result will be announced only after all diaspora votes have been counted, including postal votes, votes cast at diplomatic missions, conditional votes, and votes from persons with special needs.

Radoniqi also said that after receiving the materials, all ballot boxes will be verified.

He added that following concerns over possible vote manipulation in the Municipal Counting Centers, the CEC has introduced measures, including voting tables equipped with two monitors and stricter control mechanisms.

So far, the CEC has counted 2,429 ballot boxes out of 2,498, which represents 97.24 percent.

According to preliminary results, the Vetëvendosje Movement has 292,426 votes or 43.05 percent, PDK has 21.21 percent, LDK 17.69 percent, and AAK 7.10 percent.
