Bajrami, Kosovo opposition MP candidate: Citizens spoke loudly, and even those who did not vote made themselves heard

Democratic League of Kosovo parliamentary candidate Hykmete Bajrami reacted two days after the elections, saying the election result is a clear message to the political class.

She thanked the citizens who voted for LDK, as well as the party structures for their engagement during the electoral process.

“Citizens spoke. They spoke loudly. Those who did not vote also made their voice heard. Voter abstention is also a clear message for each of us. I see this result as a civic protest,” Bajrami wrote.

According to her, abstention is a call for reflection and accountability regarding the country’s political situation.

Bajrami said that citizens punished the party that had 51 percent of the vote, but at the same time also sent a message to LDK that more work, seriousness, and commitment are needed.

“Ultimately, it is time to think beyond seats. The Democratic League of Kosovo is more than an election, more than a result, and more than a political episode; therefore, deep reflection is needed to return stronger,” she wrote.

According to preliminary results from the Central Election Commission (Central Election Commission of Kosovo), LDK won 17.60 percent of the vote in the June 7 elections.
