Floods in Kosovo: President Osmani reacts

The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has reacted to the current situation in the country following the floods caused by heavy rainfall.

Osmani expressed her appreciation to institutions and citizens who, in the face of intense rainfall and flooding throughout the day, are responding with responsibility, professionalism, and solidarity to protect lives and property.

She announced that during the day she has been in communication with the mayors of the affected municipalities, who, according to her, are leading the on-site management of the situation in close coordination with and with the support of central institutions.

She emphasized that the Emergency Management Agency is working tirelessly in cooperation with law enforcement bodies, and she also thanked the Kosovo Security Force for its full readiness to provide immediate support by making its human and logistical capacities available should the need arise.

“The situation requires maximum caution. I call on citizens to remain vigilant and to strictly follow the instructions of the competent institutions,” Osmani wrote, stressing that cooperation and professional response are crucial to successfully managing the situation.

Heavy rainfall during the day has caused flooding and rising water levels in several areas, creating difficulties and the risk of material damage. Emergency services and local authorities are engaged on the ground to manage the situation and prevent risks to citizens.
