€500,000 investment: Shtime builds new sports hall for students from three villages

In the village of Godanc, Municipality of Shtime, the cornerstone was laid today for the new sports hall next to the Hasan Prishtina Elementary School. This project is being implemented by the Ministry of Education and the Municipality of Shtime, with an investment value of around five hundred thousand euros.

The Acting Minister of Education, Arbërie Nagavci, said that this investment will create better conditions for more than 380 students from three villages who attend classes at this school.

Nagavci stated that, in total, more than five million euros have been invested in the Municipality of Shtime to improve school infrastructure.

“An investment by the Ministry of Education worth nearly five hundred thousand euros, thus creating better conditions not only for the students of Godanc here, but also for the three villages connected to the same school. There are more than 380 students who attend classes at the ‘Hasan Prishtina’ School. Along with the improvement of the school’s infrastructure, carried out by the Municipality of Shtime on the external infrastructure; investments from the Ministry of Economy here in the Municipality of Shtime — as the Ministry of Education we have invested over five million euros to improve school infrastructure. I believe that very soon, together with the mayor, we will also inaugurate the kindergarten in Godanc. Certainly, the physical education hall offers more opportunities for students, for the children of Godanc, influencing not only the implementation of the curriculum but also their well-being and health,” said Nagavci.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Shtime, Qemajl Aliu, announced that the facility is expected to be completed within a year. According to him, this will be a modern hall, about six hundred square meters in size.

In addition to renovating the school and the sports hall, the schoolyard of Hasan Prishtina will also be arranged.

“Within twelve months, the sports hall will be built to serve both students and teachers. A modern hall, around six hundred square meters, which will cost nearly half a million euros. We are here together to share another good piece of news: in addition to the investment already being finalized by the Efficiency Fund and the Ministry of Economy — that this school is being completely renovated — it is also getting an additional sports hall by next spring. In the end, the schoolyard will also be arranged. In the Municipality of Shtime, in total, over these four years, the figure amounts to nearly eight million euros invested both in infrastructure and in equipping schools with laboratories. With this pace, we are on the right track not only to complete the physical infrastructure but also to equip all schools in the Municipality of Shtime with laboratories,” said Aliu.

Meanwhile, the former director of the school, Shaban Halimi, recalled the difficulties that students have faced until now.

“The Physical Education hall is extremely important because our school currently has around 350 students. The school operates in two shifts, and physical education classes have been held inside classrooms, sometimes outside during summer days, but in winter, when there were no conditions, they were held indoors. Today is a special day, a very happy day for us, for all the students and the entire community of the three villages,” said Halimi.

Aliu stated that in total, over the past four years, nearly eight million euros have been invested in both infrastructure and equipping schools with laboratories across the Municipality of Shtime.
