The Kosovo Police have identified and arrested the driver who caused a traffic accident and fled the scene in Shtime, KosovaPress reports.
According to the Police, the incident occurred on February 4, 2026, around 18:25, on the Shtime–Lipjan main road, in the village of Davidovc, where a vehicle hit a pedestrian. After the accident, the driver did not stop to offer assistance to the injured person, but fled in an unknown direction.
As a result of the accident, the pedestrian, a 46-year-old male, sustained bodily injuries and was initially treated at the Family Medicine Center in Shtime, then at the Emergency Center in Ferizaj, and for further treatment was transferred to the Kosovo University Clinical Center. He has been discharged to go home and is out of life-threatening danger.
Immediately after the incident, police patrols, the Road Traffic Unit, and accident investigators arrived at the scene, while investigators from the Regional Investigation Sector were also involved in the investigation.
Following intensive investigative work and analysis of security cameras, on February 8, 2026, around 18:30, the police managed to identify the driver and the suspected vehicle. The suspect is A.A., 41 years old, citizen of the Republic of Kosovo, who was driving a black VW Golf with local license plates.
Today, February 9, 2026, the suspect was interviewed by police investigators and, by decision of the state prosecutor, was released under regular procedure, while the case is being investigated for the criminal offense “Causing a traffic accident with bodily injuries.”
On February 4, 2026, around 18:25, on the Shtime–Lipjan main road, precisely in the village of Davidovc, a traffic accident occurred between a vehicle and a pedestrian.
After hitting the pedestrian, the driver of the vehicle did not stop at the scene, but fled in an unknown direction.
The injured person, a 46-year-old male pedestrian, initially received medical assistance at the Family Medicine Center in Shtime, then was taken to the Emergency Center in Ferizaj, and for further medical treatment was transferred to the Kosovo University Clinical Center. He has been discharged and is out of life-threatening danger.
At the scene of the accident, police patrols from the Shtime police station, the Road Traffic Unit patrol, and accident investigators immediately arrived.
To support the identification of the driver, investigators from the Regional Investigation Sector were also engaged in the case.
After intensive investigative work and reviewing security camera footage by police units, on February 8, 2026, around 18:30, it was possible to identify the driver and the vehicle suspected of causing the accident. The suspect is:
A.A., 41 years old, citizen of the Republic of Kosovo, vehicle: black VW Golf with local license plates.
Today, February 9, 2026, the suspect was interviewed by police accident investigators and, by decision of the state prosecutor, was released under regular procedure for further investigation of the criminal offense “Causing a traffic accident with bodily injuries.”
