The Kosovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry has expressed deep concern over the severe electricity cuts being applied across almost the entire country and the serious consequences this situation is causing for businesses.
In recent days, the KCCI has been informed by a large number of member businesses that they are facing frequent and unplanned power outages, which are leading to an immediate increase in operating costs, losses in production, and a continuous risk to their operations.
According to the KCCI, this situation further aggravates the condition of businesses, following a 16.1% increase in electricity prices for regulated consumers, as well as the transition of more than 1,300 businesses to the open energy market. These developments have already caused significant economic damage and are negatively affecting the competitiveness of the private sector.
In this context, the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry calls on all responsible stakeholders in the energy sector to take urgent and concrete actions to stabilize electricity supply, increase transparency in the management of the energy system, and guarantee sustainable conditions for business operations and the preservation of jobs.
