Citizens in the Ferizaj region frequently use their mobile phones while driving, thereby endangering their own safety and that of other road users. According to the police, the use of mobile phones while driving remains one of the main causes of road accidents in this part of Kosovo.
As a result, drivers are facing significant fines for this traffic violation.
In fact, in December alone, 268 fines were issued to drivers for using mobile phones while driving, KosovaPress reports.
Law enforcement authorities have called on all drivers to refrain from using their phones while driving.
“The Ferizaj Regional Police appeal to all road users to remain fully focused on driving and to avoid any kind of distraction, as even a second of inattention caused by mobile phone use can have serious consequences for human lives,” the regional police directorate said in a statement. Furthermore, citizens have been informed that they can report any traffic violations directly to the nearest police station, through the digital application “Report the Police” (“Lajmëro Policinë”), or by calling the duty phone numbers: 192, 0290/326-250, and 0290/322-406.
