The month of suicide prevention has started, but no earlier than yesterday, it is suspected that a person ended his life in the “Sunny Hill” neighborhood in Prishtina. Only during the first five months of this year, a total of 11 cases of suicide were registered, a very worrying phenomenon.

The "Lifeline" organization is committed to providing telephone services to people in need and receives over 300 calls every month. The "Lifeline" coordinator, Yllza Nikqi, said that this call center helps people not to feel prejudiced about their experiences.

However, the lack of state institutional support remains worrying, according to her.

Meanwhile, psychologist Petrit Thaçi tells KosovaPress that it is very important to analyze the way they communicate, especially if they show invalid concepts for life. He has also shown the age of the persons that dominates most often in depression disorders.

Psychologist Thaçi also has a message for people who have such thoughts.

The data of the Kosova Police show that during the period from January 1 to May 16, 2024, 11 people committed suicide. While this number last year was 42.

All those who are in a bad mental state and have thoughts of ending their life, can ask for help at the "Lifeline" on 0800 12345 or seek the help of a psychologist.

On World Suicide Prevention Day, the "Lifeline" organization has sent a petition for the draft law on suicide prevention, while at 19:00 at the National Theater in Prishtina, candles will be lit to remember all those who ended their lives. /A. Shala/
