The US ambassador in Pristina, Jeff Hovenier, said that his country's request is to postpone for 30 days the implementation of reciprocity for documents with Serbia, as he condemned the actions of Serbian groups in the north of Kosovo.
After the meeting with President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti, he said that they did not ask that these decisions be reviewed, but only that they be postponed so that there is more clarity.
"One of the reasons I am here for the meeting with President Osmani, Prime Minister Kurti, Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi and Foreign Minister Gërvalla is to convey a clear request of the US Government to postpone the implementation of the two decisions for 30 days. We think that the postponement for 30 days is important since it is seen that there are misunderstandings and misinformation about these decisions... I want to be clear. We do not want these decisions to be reviewed. We also want to be clear that we are concerned that some individuals are expressing their dissatisfaction with the barricades and the denial of freedom of movement. We do not support these actions. The way to express cocerns is through dialogue. We will look forward to the government's decisions", he said.
He said that it is up to the Kurti Government to make the decision and they are waiting to see how they will act in relation to the US request.
"I won't take any questions tonight. I will leave the government to talk about what it will do in relation to the US request", he concluded.
