The US Assistant Secretary for Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, Todd D. Robinson, the director of the Kosovo Correctional Service and the chairman of the Kosovo Judicial Council have today signed an agreement to accept the donation from the US through the INL program.

This donation, which was considered very important, includes the installation of audio and recording equipment in all courts of Kosovo, for which it was said that it increases the transparency of the judiciary, public trust, efficiency and simultaneously economizes the judicial process.

The President of the Kosovo Judicial Council, Albert Zogaj, while expressing his gratitude for this donation, said that the fight against corruption, organized crime, violent extremism, terrorism and other negative phenomena is the preoccupation of the judicial system of Kosovo.

He emphasized that a democratic society cannot develop without a legal state and that the latter cannot function without the independence of the judicial system.

Meanwhile, the director of the Kosovo Correctional Service (KCS), Ismail Dibrani, estimated that today's donation is one of the most important for the KCS and the justice system in general.

According to him, this donation will affect the reduction of the need to transport people from courts to prisons and vice versa, making judicial processes safer and more efficient.

Dibrani emphasized that with the help of the American government, today Kosovo is the first country in the Balkans which has formed the intelligence unit. He added that with the support of INL, it was possible to establish an institution for the treatment of persons with special needs for the first time in Kosovo.

With the donation of these devices, the audio and video recordings of the court sessions provide a clear and complete documentation of the entire procedure that takes place during the court session. Among other things, through this system it will be possible to hold court hearings remotely, ensuring that all parties, regardless of their location, have equal access to justice.
