Two years in detention, the procedure against the former KLA leaders is considered to have been delayed
Two years have passed since the arrest of the
former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, whereas the judicial process
against them has not yet begun. The preliminary procedure has been
characterized by defense accusations addressed to the Specialist Prosecutor's
Office, with allegations of concealment of exculpatory evidence, numerous
redactions in materials, and delays in the release of documents. Experts of
court proceedings say that these two years have been accompanied by major
confrontations between the parties.
The lawyer accredited to the Special Court,
Artan Qerkini, considers that the process in the preliminary procedure has been
delayed too much.
