Only during the period January-November 2023, about 21,370 accidents were registered at the country level, where 88 were fatal - 96 people died, 7,988 were injured and 15,459 were injured, according to the official data of the Kosovo Police.

Traffic experts see these numbers as worrying and say that the main causes are disobeying the rules and speeding.

Muhamet Krasniqi, a traffic expert, tells KosovaPress that accidents are a disturbing phenomenon, since one third of those that end in fatality are single-vehicle accidents.

Krasniqi says that the accident victims belong to the new generations, as he calls for drivers to be careful and protect themselves and other road traffic participants.

The Kosovo Police, in order to prevent road accidents, is implementing the operational order "Road Traffic Safety 2023", by carrying out vehicle checkpoints.

According to official data, during the period January-November 2023, a total of 21,370 accidents were registered, while in 2022 there are a total of 18,886 or 2,484 more accidents.
