The government is skeptical about lifting EU measures, the reason is Borrel's approach to Kosovo
The Government of Kosovo does not have great expectations that the punitive measures will be removed from the European Union next week, due to the unprincipled approach of the head of the EU's foreign policy, Josep Borrell, as they say. In the executive branch, they declare that the European chief diplomat had an unfair approach to Kosovo, and they even qualify as ineffective the possibility that Borell's report includes the latest developments in the north regarding the dinar and expropriations.
According to them, Kosovo has no reason to worry even if the measures are not lifted, but I have to wait for the new structures in the EU to see what the developments will be. Connoisseurs of European integration also see the possibility of the EU's punitive measures against Kosovo.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla, tells KosovaPress that Kosovo has fulfilled all the EU's requirements for de-escalation in the north, therefore, before the institutions are replaced by the EU elections, the punitive measures against the country must be removed.
Dritëro Arifi, an expert on European integration, is also skeptical about the removal of punitive measures against Kosovo.
According to him, the EU may continue the status quo of measures due to the government's recent steps regarding the ban of the dinar and expropriations in the north.
KosovaPress has also asked the European Union whether the measures against Kosovo will be lifted, after the delivery of the report of the head of the EU's foreign policy, Josep Borrell, who was warned that it will be delivered to the member countries next week. However, they have not responded.
The measures against Kosovo were decided a year ago as a response to the escalation of the security situation in the north of Kosovo when Kosovo sent to the municipal buildings the Albanian mayors who came out of the elections that were boycotted by the Serbs./E.Zeqiri/
