Kosovo ended the year 2023 without any new recognition or membership in any international organization. The main culprit, according to the opposition parties and experts in international relations, is Kosovo's diplomacy, which according to them has failed in foreign policy.

On the other hand, in the ruling party, they say that Kosovo institutions and in particular the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora have taken steps forward to strengthen the international subjectivity of Kosovo, mentioning the passage of the first phase for membership in the Council of Europe and the application for membership in the European Union, while emphasizing that they are constantly working for new recognition of Kosovo's independence.

The MP of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Ariana Musliu-Shoshi, told KosovaPress that the country has not made any progress in foreign policy during 2023.

She emphasizes that a big gap has been created in terms of new recognitions, where she accuses the Kosovo chief diplomat, Donika Gërvalla, of having failed to convey the truth to the international community regarding the Serbian terrorist attack of September 24, in Banjska.

The MP of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Time Kadrijaj, is also critical of Kosovo's diplomacy.

She told KosovaPress that 2023 is unfortunate for Kosovo's foreign policy, as they are under punitive measures of the European Union.

However, the MP of the Vetëvendosje Movement, at the same time, a member of the Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Policy, Gazmend Gjyshinca, says that the process of new recognitions, but also of Kosovo's membership in international organizations, are connected with the dialogue with Serbia.

According to him, the institutions have done everything possible to strengthen the international subjectivity of Kosovo.

On the other hand, the expert on international relations, Albinot Maloku, told KosovaPress that Kosovar diplomacy cannot be proud of anything during 2023.

However, he also criticizes the European Union for connecting Kosovo's membership in international organizations with the dialogue with Serbia.

Kosovo was last recognized by Israel three years ago, which came as a result of the Washington agreement between Kosovo and Serbia.

During this year, Kosovo has passed the first stage for membership in the Council of Europe, whereas the application for obtaining the status of a candidate country for membership in the European Union has not been reviewed at all. /E.Zeqiri
