The Municipality of Prishtina has announced that from September they will start full-day classes from the first to the ninth grade. Leaders of the capital gave details saying that it is the biggest educational reform ever launched in the capital.

The Mayor of the Municipality of Prishtina, Përparim Rama in a press conference said that they are realizing one of the most important promises in the field of education.

According to him, full-day classes will affect traffic because there will be no movement by parents at noon, but also parents will have less stress and will be able to work during the day.

The deputy mayor and director of Education, Jehona Lushaku said that the beginning of this process was not easy because of the burdens they have in the schools.

According to her, with full-day classes, the basic curriculum is better realized and is accompanied by recreational activities that transform the school into a second home for students, where they would like to come. All this is said to be aimed at raising quality.

Lushaku explained that they have separated the schools physically in order to create more space for classes from 1 to 5, and thus classes from 6 to 9 have been moved to other schools.

It was emphasized there that the schedule for the first and second grades ends around 14:00, the schedule for grades 3 to 5 around 15:45.

The lunch will be hot and will cost the municipality about 1.7 million euros per year.
