Vjosa Osmani was voted today by the Assembly of Kosovo for president of the country. She will be in charge of the state of Kosovo for the next 5 years. But who is actually Vjosa Osmani? Here is a brief biography of her: Dr. Vjosa Osmani Sadriu was born on May 17, 1982 in Mitrovica, Kosovo. She finished primary and secondary education in Mitrovica, while she graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Prishtina. She completed her Master's and Doctoral studies at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, USA. She was elected a member of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo in four terms, thus becoming the most voted woman in the history of parliamentary elections in Kosovo and the second most voted politician in parliamentary elections. In previous terms she has chaired the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Committee on European Integration and has been the Deputy Chair of the Committee on Constitutional Reform. On February 3, 2020, Vjosa Osmani was elected the first woman Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo. On November 5, 2020, she became the acting President of the Republic of Kosovo. During the years 2006-2010, Vjosa Osmani served as Chief of Staff of President Sejdiu and Senior Advisor on Legal Affairs and International Relations. She has published books, articles, monographs and works in the field of International and Commercial Law, both in Albanian and English. Osmani is married to Pridon Sadriu and has two twin daughters.
